What is an exchange?
An exchange is an “exchange” of gifts in the fandom! Though typically done for Christmas (Secret Santa), we like to organize exchanges year-round to make sure Jyn x Cassian shippers are having lots of fun!
How does it work?
After you sign up, you get the Tumblr URL of a fellow RebelCaptain shipper along with their prompt.
You’ll have a set time (determined by the rules of the exchange) to prepare a gift for them that fills their prompt. Over the course of that time, you will also need to send your giftee anonymous messages to make them feel loved.
Of course, the same will be true for you! One of your lovely shipmates will write/draw/edit your prompt for you and send you lots of anon love.
Who can participate?
Any RebelCaptain shipper is welcome! (No, you do not need to be a member to join!)
Anyone that is positive and wants to spread some love in the fandom is perfect for an exchange. As long as you are willing to put effort into your gift, it doesn’t matter whether you are super amazingly confident or are really shy about your skills. We just want you to show some love for this ship and your shipmates! It’s the thought that counts.
How do I sign up?
You send an email to the address therebelcaptainnetwork@gmail.com with your sign up form! Our standard form is as follows (though please be sure to use the exchange specific one, just in case)
What are the deadlines like?
Each exchange will have specific timelines and guidelines, so please make sure you read the information post carefully so that you don’t miss anything!
Typically you have a sign up period, then once you receive your giftee and prompt, you have a long time to complete your gift until posting time!
Posting dates are staggered so that all works can be better appreciated, so another deadline to look out for is signing up for posting.
Can I submit something besides fanfiction?
Yes, of course! Unless it is specifically a fanfiction exchange, we welcome all talents (fanart, graphics, fanmixes, etc), so long as your work is complete and involved effort! It can be pretty disappointing to receive a half-finished present. Edited and polished work only, please.
Please also make sure to fulfill the prompt your giftee sent to you, although you’re welcome to be creative with the prompt! That’s why you’re creating it.
How do I submit my gift to my giftee?

What if I didn’t get a gift?
After the exchange closes and amnesty days are over, we will call for pinch-hitters to quickly complete outstanding gifts! Typically there is a 2 week turnaround given all the planning involved.
Please let us know if you didn’t receive a gift, so we can make sure that you receive one.

- Anything you don’t wish to receive or gift: (please note any triggers, issues, etc.)

- Post your gift to Tumblr (if you’ve written a fic on Archive of Our Own, post a link to it on tumblr or Dreamwidth)
- You must have your giftee’s URL and the #exchangetag (it will be exchange specific!) in your tags
- On your posting day (that you signed up for), please post your gift before midnight PST. If you cannot do so, we ask that you please hold onto your gifts until the exchange amnesty days (normally we post during the week and then the weekend serves as the amnesty)
What else do I have to do?
- Stay anonymous! It’s really fun to be surprised, and you don’t want your giftee figuring out who you are ahead of time.
- Also, please send your giftee some anonymous love at least once a week, make sure they feel loved and appreciated!
- Keep your askbox open! You will NOT be allowed to participate in exchanges if your askbox is closed, so please keep that in mind before you join.
